Cooperative Essay Winners

Congratulations to juniors Erin Johnson, Elizabeth Burdick, and Lauren Turner for being selected as essay contest winners by Consolidated Electric Cooperative, Mexico.  The students wrote essays in English class about electrical safety for the cooperative's annual contest.  Erin was a first-place winner, so she will be flying to Washington, DC in June for an all-expense paid week-long trip.  Erin will view all of the famous landmarks in Washington, DC including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, the Smithsonian, and more.  She will join approximately 150 juniors from all over the nation in learning about citizenship, leadership, and American history.  Elizabeth and Lauren will be delegates to CYCLE (Cooperative Youth Conference and Leadership Experience)  in Jefferson City in July. At the conference, they will learn about Missouri's government and participate in lots of fun leadership activities with other juniors from all over the state.  We are very proud of these students for winning these fabulous trips, and we appreciate Consolidated Electric Cooperative for giving them this opportunity.
