The March 2022 Students of the Month for Wellsville-Middletown Jr/Sr High are Aubrey Harmon (JH) and AJ Sherwood (HS). Aubrey was nominated by Mr. Boenker and Mrs. Bradley. Mr. Boenker stated that “she is respectful and cooperative. She participates in class activities, and works well with others.” Mrs. Bradley stated that “Aubrey has adjusted well to her move back into the school district. She works diligently, participates, and is always prepared for class.” Aubrey is currently an eighth grader and is the daughter of Danielle and Tim Harmon of Wellsville. She enjoys spending time with her friends. Aubrey’s favorite food is pizza and her favorite subject is math. Rachel is a member of the JH Band and Track team. She says the best part of being a tiger is the opportunities to spend time with her friends. Aubrey looks forward to continuing pursuing a career in professional sports. AJ was nominated by Mr. Thull for being “an exceptional student in our building. He is kind, is friends with everyone, and works his tail off. He is one of our most involved students, as he is currently in Quiz Bowl, track, baseball, and competes in FFA. He does this all while maintaining a high GPA. AJ misses classes from time to time for his many events, but I never have to worry about him staying up to date with his work. He participates in class discussions and is an overall great kid to have in class.” Aj is currently a sophomore and is the son of Jason and Kristy Sherwood of Wellsville. He enjoys working with his hands. AJ's favorite food is a bacon cheeseburger and his favorite subject is math. He is involved in the 4-H, FFA, Track, Baseball, Cross Country, and Quiz Bowl. AJ says the best part of being a tiger is the pride and school spirit. AJ’s future plans include attending a technical college for diesel mechanics. The criteria for student of the month are high attendance rate for the month, contributes to class, club, and/or athletic activities, showed marked improvement or continued excellence in performance, is prepared for class, class participation, demonstrates responsibility, and is respectful to peers and teachers. The February 2022 Students of the Month for Wellsville-Middletown Jr/Sr High are Kara Freie (JH) and Mike Rose (HS). Mrs. Bradley nominated Kara for this month’s Student of the Month for consistently completing her work. She is proactive with problem solving and actively participates in class.” Kara was also nominated by Mr. Boenker for “being respectful, hard-working students who has transitioned well from 6th grade. She thinks critically, asks questions, helps others, and participates in discussion. She is truly a joy to have in class!” Kara is currently a seventh grader and is the daughter of Niki and Craig Freie of Middletown. She enjoys spending time diamond painting and her favorite food is shrimp. Kara’s favorite subject is math. She is involved band, JH FFA, and on the Track and Field team. Kara says the best part of being a tiger is the going to the basketball games and the teachers. She looks forward to pursuing a career in accounting. Mike was nominated by Mr. Piagari for receiving multiple nominations in the past. Mike is currently a senior and is the daughter of Sandra Rose of Wellsville. In his spare time, Mike enjoys video games, listening to music and creating things. His favorite subject is American Government/History and enjoys pizza. Mike says the best part of being a tiger is the opportunity to do many different things that will help him in the future. The January 2022 Students of the Month for Wellsville-Middletown Jr/Sr High are Levi Varner (JH) and Keigan Hall (HS). Mr. Boenker nominated Levi for this month’s Student of the Month for “continuing to be a pleasant, respectful, hard-working student in my class. He has changed (positively) since school started in August - he strives to do well, asks questions when needed, and can be counted on to help others. Levi is a joy to have in class!” Levi is currently a seventh grader and is the daughter of Tiffany Crider of Middletown and Micheal Crider. He enjoys spending time watching television in his spare time, his favorite food is pizza, and his favorite subject is communication arts. Levi is involved in JH basketball. He says the best part of being a tiger is his friends. Levi looks forward to getting a good job after high school. Keigan was nominated by Mr. Boenker for “always putting forth the effort and being respectful. She is always pleasant and works hard, both in the classroom and on the court. I have enjoyed having Keigan in class, and still do.” Keigan was also nominated by Mrs. Bradley for “her effort on and off the basketball court. She does well in class and has a great, humorous personality.” Keigan is currently a freshman and is the daughter of Heather Heding of Wellsville and Tony Hall. In her spare time, Keigan enjoys spending time with her friends. Her favorite subject is communication arts and her favorite food is pizza. Keigan is involved with Varsity Basketball. She says the best part of being a tiger is the opportunity to play basketball for the Tigers. Keigan’s future plans include continuing with further education after high school. The December 2021 Students of the Month for Wellsville-Middletown Jr/Sr High are Rachel Davis (JH) and Emily Huff (HS). Mrs. Bradley nominated Rachel for this month’s Student of the Month for being “having excellent attendance, consistently turns in her work, actively participates in class, and asks questions when she doesn't understand.” Rachel is currently an eighth grader and is the daughter of Ross and Jill Davis of Wellsville. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially playing with her nephew. Chicken is Rachel’s favorite food and her favorite subject is math. Rachel is a member of the FFA and Student Council. She says the best part of being a tiger is the opportunities that she gets to develop her leadership skills. Rachel’s look forward to continuing her membership with the FAA and learning more about agriculture. Emily was nominated by Mr. Boenker for “always being respectful and putting in the effort in my class. She is a polite individual who often gets overlooked, due to her cooperation and quietness. Emily is mature and kindhearted, and a true joy to have in class. She works hard, and continues to do so.” Emily is currently a freshman and is the daughter of Kirsten and Randy Huff of Wellsville. Emily enjoys drawing and playing video games in her spare time and her favorite food is ramen noodles. Her favorite subject is history. Emily is involved in the Student Council and Art Club. We've had a fabulous morning at Wellsville-Middletown Elementary! We held our annual WM Elementary's Got Talent show. Kaleb won first place with a live Christmas draw of Santa. Ferrell won second with a beatboxing performance. Ryder played Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on the piano and won third. There were so many awesome performances--singing, magic, comedy, hula-hooping, and more! We also announced the winners of our Ugly Sweater decorating contest. There is so much talent in our school! The November 2021 Students of the Month for Wellsville-Middletown Jr/Sr High are Helanea McKenzie (JH) and Tristan Odom (HS). Mrs. Thull nominated Helanea for this month’s Student of the Month for being “a wonderful student in and out of the classroom. She represents our school well in her extra curricular activities and is a very hard worker.” Helanea is currently an eighth grader and is the daughter of Brandon and Tara McKenzie of Wellsville. She enjoys playing sports, spending time with her family, or riding horses in her spare time. Tacos are Helena’s favorite food and her favorite subject is physical education. Helanea is a member of the basketball team, FFA, choir, StuCo, Reach Church and Specdra. She says the best part of being a tiger is the small school environment because it allows her to have more opportunities. Helena’s future plans include going to college, pursuing a degree in nursing, and working at a children’s hospital. Tristan was nominated by Ms. Seeley for “doing a great job on getting more involved in her artwork and opening up in general. ” Tristan is currently a freshman and is the daughter of Barbra Pendergast of Wellsville. Tristan enjoys reading as well as spending time with her brother and pets in her spare time and her favorite food is pizza. Tristan’s favorite subject is math. Tristan says the best part of being a tiger is the environment. Max's future plans include pursuing a career in cosmetology. It was a wonderful week at Wellsville-Middletown R-1. We commemorated Veterans Day on November 11 with a closed ceremony. Students in K-6 sang patriotic songs to honor all veterans, including the Post 2056 VFW members that were present. Commander Steve Fort presented checks to the winners of the VFW Patriots' Pen Scholarship contest. Royce received the 1st place prize of $100 for his essay on the theme "How Can I Be a Good American?". Adrianna received $50 for her 3rd place entry. The September 2021 Students of the Month for Wellsville-Middletown Jr/Sr High are Madison Bickell (JH) and Mac Creekmore (HS). Mrs. Bradley nominated Madison for this month’s Student of the Month because “Madison is a leader within the classroom, she is always prepared, and seeks to help those around her.” Madison is the daughter of Maria and Danny Bickell of Wellsville. Madison is currently a 7th grader. Her favorite pastime is exploring the Grand Canyon. Madison’s favorite food is a baked potato. She is a member of the FFA, dance, cross country, basketball, and track.She enjoys math class. Madison says the best part of being a tiger is she gets to represent Wellsville-Middletown R-1 in sports. Her future plans include pursuing a career in veterinary science and owning her own clinic. Max was nominated by Mrs. Rakers for “working hard in class everyday, asking for help in a positive way, and being an advocate for himself.He continues to set personal goals and works daily to achieve those goals. Max has shown so much growth this school year in such a short amount of time.” Max is the son of Talitha Eppersonof Wellsville. He is currently a junior. His favorite pastimes include running, working out, hanging out with friends and listening to music. Max is looking forward to track this spring.
