A water leak in the city of Wellsville will result in water being turned off for a minimum of two hours, followed by a boil order. School will be dismissed at 1:35 PM today. Please help spread the word!

Say "Cheese"!! Picture Day is tomorrow!

I'm sure this comes as no surprise--Walk to School day is cancelled. We will attempt to make it up at a later date.

WMR1 2nd grade enjoyed beautiful weather at Prairie's Edge Garden Center in Bowling Green. Students enjoyed a corn maze and even got to pick a pumpkin of their own! We have enjoyed this trip for several years.

Fifty-eight students in K-5th grade received a treat yesterday for having Perfect Attendance in September! Students received a candy bar from PTO or a coupon for a free slice of pizza from Wellsville's Casey's! On Friday, one boy and one girl with perfect attendance in September will receive a $25 gift card to Dollar General. This is part of PTO's campaign to promote student achievement by getting "Cheeks in Seats"!
Mrs. Wilkinson's class had the best overall attendance at 98%. Way to go!
This starts over each month, so even if a student didn't make it for September, they can still earn a prize by being here every minute of October!

Wellsville VFW Post 3056 Commander Jerry Fischer and Chaplain George Jacobi visited WM Elementary 4th and 5th grade for a lesson in flag history and etiquette. They also showed students the appropriate way to raise, lower, and fold the American Flag. Thanks for helping!

Students in 1st-5th grade enjoyed their first WIN time of the year today. WIN stands for What I Need. Students travel to different teachers in the school for an extra dose of reading instruction. The groups are very deliberately formed to make sure every student is getting exactly the instruction he/she needs!

Teachers at WMR1 Elementary are spending today identifying priority standards and aligning them to our new math resources in order to provide the most effective classroom instruction for our students. MS and HS teachers are participating in content-specific professional development at various schools in the area. For the last several years, Eastern Missouri (EMO) conference schools have collaborated to provide effective PD for teachers.

WMR1 Staff has been back at it, gearing up for the new school year! Yesterday, the whole staff enjoyed a very funny, inspirational presentation by Kay Frances. Today, StuCo members helped serve coffee from Sacred Groundz. Staff members have been treated to breakfast and lunch each day, as well as a pre-Open House dinner due to the generosity of American Bank, People's Savings Bank, Sydenstricker-Nobbe, Reach, Clinetta Weinrich and Georgia Scarborough. FFA members have helped with meal prep. Several members of WMR1 Board of Education have been present to serve meals and support teachers as we get back to school! We are so fortunate to have such supportive communities!
Open House is tonight from 5:30 to 7:00.
